Winches for MV Aasvaer
An innovation in modern shipbuilding

DROMEC supplies winches for MV Aasvaer – An innovation in modern shipbuilding
Royal Bodewes has recently delivered the MV Aasvaer (BN776) to Aasen Shipping. This 9,400 DWT hybrid, methanol-ready self-discharging vessel, measuring nearly 120 meters in length, marks an important step in the further decarbonisation of coastal shipping. It is designed for efficient loading, unloading, and sailing under diverse operating conditions.
Electric anchor winches
For this project, DROMEC Winches developed and supplied two electric (690 Volt) anchor winches for 46 mm anchor chain including matching chain stoppers, as well as two 80 kN electric (690 Volt) mooring winches. To create additional surrounding space, the gearbox and drive were integrated below deck. Our solution combines robust mechanical engineering with reliable drive and control technology, tailored to the high operational demands of modern bulk and self-discharging vessels. In doing so, DROMEC contributes to safe, efficient, and sustainable deck equipment for the MV Aasvaer.
Roelof van Urk, Sales DROMEC:
“The delivery of the Aasvaer once again highlights the strong cooperation between all parties involved and marks the beginning of a series of four vessels.”
MV Aasvaer
The MV Aasvaer is equipped with an advanced hybrid energy system, including a 620 kWh battery pack for peak-shaving and low-emission operation in ports. The vessel is also prepared for the future use of green fuels such as methanol, aligning seamlessly with the maritime sector’s sustainability ambitions.
Technical FAQ
